New Single ‘Kickin' In’
3rd June 2016
Cupids are sure to shoot a bolt of love through your heart with their first official single ‘Kickin’ In’, released this June, following a prime appearance at this year’s Great Escape Festival.
‘Kickin’ In’ is bold and fresh, its dark undercurrents mellowed by infectious groove and all-out chorus. Reflecting their hard-won achievements as a band to date, the song speaks to the frequent moments of self-doubt in a merciless music industry and the determination to grab on to the tiniest speck of hope. The colliding vocals & guitar of Sid Cooper and Jake Fletcher provide a grounded and welcome authenticity to their lyrics, backed by solid drums and bass of James Cardus and Ryan Cormac.
Cupids came together in Manchester in September 2015 and a month later found themsleves supporting one of the biggest emerging talents, Blossoms, on their UK tour. They have an ever-growing fan base including Chris Difford (Squeeze), Paul Weller, and Gaz Whelan (Happy Mondays) who have taken a shine to Cupids’ gritty take on pop, while Donovan recently offered them one of his unrecorded songs. They say they have something for everyone and in just a few months have connected to a wide audience with an excitement that doesn’t come around very often.
Catch Cupids live at The Great Escape, Saturday 21st May, Dr Martens stage, Green Door Store, 10pm. Also in London on 26th May at the Hawley Arms and Leeds on 28th May at The Wardrobe. The band will be playing some festivals later in the year including Isle of Wight (June), Kendall Calling (July) and Neighbourhood Manchester (October)
